Fergusson Centre for Higher Learning
On invitation from the Government of Andhra Pradesh the Deccan Education Society, Pune, (Maharashtra, INDIA) has purchased a piece of land from the government and established its new institute. This institute is located at village Kurrakalava in Renigunta Mandal of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh and is adjacent to Tirupati International Airport. The new campus of DES is named ‘Fergusson Centre for Higher Learning’.
The institute has been established with the objective to provide the vocational, skill based, job-oriented training and education to the local people. The institute has plans to start research and development activities in various fields.
Fergusson Centre for Higher Learning (FCHL), has received an approval from Sri Venkateswara University to conduct the six-months Post Graduate Programme in Food Safety and Food Quality.
The institute also has an agreement with Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV), by which the institute conducts ‘external credit’ courses for the post graduate students of SPMVV.
Initially the institute has launched the following short-term programmes:
1. Certificate Course in Industrial Safety (affiliated to SBTET AP)
2. Certificate Course in Office Automation (affiliated to SBTET AP)
3. Post Graduate Programmme in Food Safety and Food Quality
4. Microbiology laboratory techniques
Fergusson Centre for Higher Learning has well established facilities with three well equipped laboratories (Microbiology, Chemistry and Instrumentation) and a Computer room, apart from classrooms, Library, Administrative office, Reception room, conference hall, Meeting Room etc.
The institute has the necessary equipment and instruments (like FTIR, UV visible spectroscopy, Cooling Centrifuge, Incubator, Hot Air Oven, Autoclave, Deep Freezer, U.V. Transilluminator, Laminar Air Flow, Microscopes etc.) which are required for Water and Food Analysis.
The institute also houses the Fergusson Testing Laboratory, an NABL accredited (ISO 17025) water and food testing laboratory. FCHL has a well-established Computer laboratory too.
The campus will soon have two hostels (boys and girls) and staff quarters. The construction is going on and is expected to be completed by May 2021.
